A project management case study

The following project management case study of a project with a team from the University of Alaska — School of Nursing describes the challenges involved in doubling the size of its graduating class and the team’s ability to meet those challenges.

Situation

Following a spring nursing shortage in 2002, the Alaskan health care industry challenged the University of Alaska’s School of Nursing to meet its current and ever-growing need for qualified nurses.

Critical issue

UAA School of Nursing provides the large majority of qualified nurses to the growing Anchorage area. When the shortage occurred, the Nursing School was requested to double its number of graduates by the spring semester, 2006, without impacting the high caliber of graduates completing the program.
