What is performance management?

We complement your business team

The simplest definition of performance management is making continual progress in positively impacting the key indicators of your organization. Let’s break that down into bite size chunks. “Continual progress” means that there is constant movement, not sporadic progress. “Positively impacting” indicates that the continual progress is seeing the desired results anticipated. And finally, “key indicators” are the measures that tell you definitively if you are moving toward your vision and maintaining the health of the organization. Key indicators include revenue, profitability, overhead or cost of goods sold, rate of attracting new customers, customer retention, employee performance, process performance, etc.

So then, performance management focuses in on achieving the vision for the the organization, as a whole. It includes being sure that major projects are completed on time and on budget, that internal systems are performing smoothly, without waste, and that employees are carrying out their responsibilities effectively. Achieving your organization’s performance management goals

To reach your vision, you must first clearly define it and design the strategies to get you there. The critical next step? Define measures or key indicators that tell you if the strategies chosen are working and the organization is healthy. Easy to say; not so easy to do. How to determine both the strategies and the key indicators to assess their effectiveness? Tap into your employees’ unique knowledge of your business. Taking that expertise and synthesizing it into a successful, workable, measurable plan is the critical missing ingredient that Professional Growth Systems is famous for providing.
