About
Professional Growth Systems

Our clients have said, PGS consistently “transforms impossibly overwhelming, into simply doable.”

Healthcare project management maximizes scarce resources

Healthcare project management requires the ability to monitor multiple tracks of activity simultaneously in order to bring the completed project in on time and on budget. A good project plan maximizes the scarce resources able to be applied to each of these tracks of activity, particularly where the tracks interface with each other, assuring a high quality end product for the overall project.

Professional Growth Systems’ experience in healthcare project management is wide-ranging. We have brought our tools and expertise to a wide variety of our clients’ projects including implementation of electronic medical records, enhancement of a clinic billing system, development of a comprehensive diabetes education program, and building a cardiology clinic.

Our approach, Dynamic Planning™, produces a visual chart of activity from project start to completion. For more information on Dynamic Planning™, click here. For a recent case study on the tool and its outcome, see below.

A healthcare project management case study

The Organization

Vaccine and Infectious Disease Institute of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Situation

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has a program called the Uganda Program on Cancer and Infectious Diseases. The purpose is to conduct research, training and clinical care with the Uganda Cancer Institute in order to better understand infection-related cancers. The Uganda team worked with Professional Growth Systems on a Dynamic Plan “that really was the kick-start or catalyst we needed to start the program. It actually evolved then into a strategic plan (Vision Navigation®) with strategic goals set 3-5 years out to establish and grow the program.” (Erica Sessle, Uganda Program Managing Director, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center)

Their need

The Dynamic Planning process brought in team members from all over to plan the project and its many tracks of activity. The tool and regular meetings to review it “helped us to keep the team focused and on track with our highest priorities. It established clarity on those priorities and on what people should be working on. It kept people accountable…Having something that all those involved buy into fosters the team to function at the highest level effectively and efficiently. I can’t overestimate the importance and focus for a project of this scope. We were building a building in East Africa…never been done before.” (Erica Sessle)

Results

Without the Dynamic Plan in place, “productivity would have been much less. We would have accomplished few goals and had less team concensus. (There would have been) cost implications in that we would not have been as effective, would have spun our wheels. I can see it in other teams that don’t have this tool. We have accomplished an enormous amount in a short time.” (Erica Sessle)
